Descendants of Thomas Adams & Isabella McBride

Thomas Adams  (1782 ~ 1865)

 

A son of John Adams, Thomas Adams, was born c. 1782, in County Monaghan, Ireland. 

 He married Isabella McBride, possibly the daughter of John McBride and Margaret Randel, from Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbright, Scotland, c. 1811, in Co. Monaghan, Ireland.

 Thomas and Isabella McBride Adams sailed from Newry, Ireland on the vessel William Tell on April 12, 1834 and arrived on June 5, 1834 at the Port of Quebec.

 They farmed at Lot 33, Concession 5, Haldimand Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario where he purchased 100 acres on May 8, 1841 and had 11 children:

 

  • (1)  John  (1812 ~ 1834)    Died on arrival.

  • (2)  Ann  (1814 ~ 1894)     Minden, Ont.

  • (3)  Thomas  (1815 ~ 1816)  Died in Ireland.

  • (4)  James  (1817 ~ 1908)    Wyebridge, Ont.

  • (5)  Robert  (1819 ~ 1887)    New Park, Ont.*

  • (6)  Mary Jane  (1821 ~ 1892)  Cobourg, Ont.

  • (7)  Sarah  (1823 ~ 1880)    Cobourg, Ont.

  • (8)  Margaret  (1825 ~ 1898)    Lapeer, Mich.

  • (9)  Thomas  (1827 ~ 1901)     Fenella, Ont.

  • (10) McBride  (1829 ~ 1904)     Roseneath, Ont.

  • (11)  Isabella  (1833 ~ 1834)     Died enroute.

 

 Thomas Adams died February 18, 1865, aged 82 years, in Haldimand Twp., Ontario and Isabella McBride Adams died August 14, 1871, aged 84 years, in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada and are interred at Gilliland Cemetery.
