Charles H. Joness

November 3, 1876 ~ September 26, 1916

Hovering between life and death, since the accident to his limb, the condition of C. H. Joness, who was injured on Saturday afternoon by being run over by a caboose truck, took a turn for the worse, early this morning, and, surrounded by his family, he passed to the great beyond shortly before four o’clock. Deceased was born in Bowmanville, Ontario and came to this part of the country a few years ago. He was forty years of age.

Previous to taking a position with the Great West Life Company, he was employed in R. Strachan’s jewelry store. He is survived by a widow and two daughters, one married.

The funeral will be held on Thursday from the family home, 780 Syndicate Avenue South, to Mountain View Cemetery. Rev. Henry Irvine, of Wesley Methodist Church, will conduct the services.

Dr. Boyd has ordered an inquest, and a jury is being called today and the body will be viewed at the undertaking parlors of Cameron and Jenkens this evening, when adjournment will be made for the taking of evidence as soon as witnesses arrive from down the line.

Deceased was very well and favourably known in Schreiber, and in fact at all points down the line, where his business called him frequently. It was while he was on one of his usual trips to the railway town that he met with the unfortunate accident. Fort William Daily Times-Journal, Sept. 26, 1916.
