Robert Ranson Mortimer (1878 ~ 1950)
2.3.5. Fifth child of Isabella Ranson and John Mortimer, Robert Ranson Mortimer, was born June 20, 1878, in Anson Twp., Haliburton Co., Ontario.
Robert R. Mortimer died May 29, 1950, aged 71 years, in Drumheller, Alberta and is interred at Carbon Cemetery.

Robert R. Mortimer
Funeral services for Robert Mortimer, 71, an old-timer of the Carbon district who died in Drumheller hospital on Monday, May 29, 1950, were held from Christ Church, Carbon Thursday, June 1. Rev. J. W. Way officiated at the ceremony and Winter Bros. funeral home of Drumheller was in charge of arrangements. Interment was made in Carbon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Garnet Snell, Jim Snell, Goldsby McCracken, Fred McCracken, Charlie Martin and Charlie Guynn.
Born in Minden, Ontario, Mr. Mortimer came west in 1906 and homesteaded in the Carbon district. He later worked as a farm labourer on various farms near Carbon. In February, 1949 he was taken ill and entered the Drumheller hospital, where he remained until his death.
Surviving are three brothers, Mac, Rocky Mountain House, James, of Grande Prairie and Dean, at Prince George, B.C. Carbon Chronicle, June 8, 1950.
